About Us
Bassett Healthcare Network is dedicated to helping the people of Central New York achieve optimal health and quality of life. We do this through an integrated system of care that connects comprehensive services across the region.
At the heart of our network is Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, a nationally recognized tertiary care hospital offering both inpatient services—including a birthing center and surgical care—and advanced outpatient diagnostics and treatments. It is home to the Bassett Heart Care Institute and Bassett Cancer Institute, and provides specialized services such as open-heart surgery, daVinci robot-assisted surgery, trauma care, neurosurgery, and advanced orthopedic and spine care.
The Bassett Medical Group includes over 400 salaried physicians and advanced practice clinicians who provide primary and specialty care at Bassett Medical Center, the Bassett Clinic, and more than two dozen community-based health centers across eight counties. We also operate school-based health centers in four counties, delivering medical, mental health, and preventive dental care to children.
Our specialists offer expertise typically found only in major cities and travel throughout the region to provide care at community hospitals and specialty campuses in Herkimer, Oneonta, and Hartwick Seminary. Services include cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, ENT, dermatology, and more, along with outpatient diagnostic and surgical procedures.
In addition to Bassett Medical Center, our network includes five hospitals:
- Cobleskill Regional Hospital
- O’Connor Hospital (Delhi)
- Little Falls Hospital
- A.O. Fox Hospital (Oneonta)
- A.O. Fox Tri-Town Campus (Sidney)
These facilities offer acute inpatient care, 24/7 emergency services, and advanced diagnostic tools like MRI and CT scans. Bassett specialists also see patients at the Tri-Town Campus specialty clinic.
We support the full continuum of care through services like At Home Care, providing in-home nursing and therapy, and First Community Care of Bassett, which supplies home medical equipment and treatments.
For rehabilitation and long-term care, we offer services at A.O. Fox Nursing Home, Valley Health Services (VHS) in Herkimer, and several hospitals. Valley Residential Services, part of VHS, provides assisted living for seniors wishing to maintain independence.
As a teaching hospital affiliated with Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, and through the Bassett Research Institute, we advance care through education and research. Our Center for Rural Community Health and New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health (NYCAMH) lead initiatives in population health, occupational safety, and rural public health research.
