Surgical Coordinator- Bilingual in Spanish
Wellington, FL
Role Summary:
In all treatment centers, the first point of verbal contact for our patients is the Surgery Coordinator. As first impressions are lasting, it is imperative that our personnel portray patience, understanding, professionalism, compassion, and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working closely with physician, patients, surgical center and hospital to schedule urological procedures
- Keep close contact with the patient and make sure they understand what they need to do as far as preparing for the procedure, dietary and medication restrictions, etc.
- Answer multiple incoming calls from patients, hospitals and physician offices
- Scheduling biopsies and procedures that are performed in the office
- Obtaining all required consent forms
- Getting authorization from insurance companies for procedures
- Collecting financial responsibility from patients
- Ensuring all pre-operative requirements and surgical clearances are ready prior to procedures
- Printing operative reports for signature
- Calling patients after surgery to schedule their post-operative appointments
- Other duties as assigned as part of the team including answering phones, making patient appointments, and helping wherever needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least three years of experience in a medical office setting
- Good Computer skills in MS Office
- Must be able to fluently speak, write and understand English
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to exercise initiative, use sound judgment, and employ effective problem-solving techniques in the decision making process
- Self-starter with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD9, and CPT coding
- Adheres to Company policy and procedures
- Act as a role model within and outside the Company
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude
- Work independently with ability to lead others to meet company productivity standards and deadlines
- Consistently report to work on time and perform duties of position
Minimum Physical Capabilities:
In order to be able to perform normal duties as an Surgical Coordinator, the worker must be able to perform all of the following physical capabilities:
- Lifting up to 11 lbs occasionally floor to waist height, <7 waist to shoulder occasionally
- Frequent forward reaching, fine motor control (hand and arm)
- Sitting for up to 30mins at a time
- Occasional standing and walking
- Occasional bending and squatting
- Rare pushing and pulling to assist with a patient transfer
