Position Summary
We are seeking a Part-Time Professional Rater I to join the team on the Adolescent Brain and Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study at WashU. The ABCD Study is a large-scale study to determine how childhood experiences interact with each other and with a child’s changing biology to affect brain development and social, behavioral, academic, health, and other outcomes.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Works with youth and adult participants representative of the St. Louis community.
- Interviews study participants about topics regarding culture and environment, mental and physical health, and substance use.
- Administers behavioral/cognitive/computerized tests.
- Collects and processes biological samples (hair, saliva, urine, blood) in accordance with study guidelines.
- Must perform phlebotomy with training provided after hiring.
- Performs data collection and entry; maintain accurate documentation across all study databases.
- Refers participants to resources available in community and social services.
- Assists with study-related tasks (e.g., preparing study visit materials, data cleaning).
- Working with research participants, particularly with adolescents and teenagers.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to protocol.
- Experience navigating stressful or difficult situations and conversations.
- Strong communication skills amongst team members and with manager
- Strong customer service skills with a dedication to providing empathetic, participant-oriented experiences.
- Ability to work effectively within a small team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range
$17.34 - $25.40 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
