Collaborates with other disciplines in development of treatment plans and referrals. Formulates and conducts programs to promote prevention of alcohol and drug abuse. Reviews patient medical record to remain aware of patient's status, treatment, progress and problems. Intervenes with critical patients such as escalating of behavior, suicidal behavior, elopement and other emergency situations occurring. Maintains a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff in accordance with the safety policy. Provides advanced professional alcohol and drug counseling. Provides counseling to patients with substance abuse - individual, group and family sessions. Identifies and responds to patients in crisis, provides addictions related education and teaches life skills. Documents client related information in accordance with CHS policy and regulations. Conducts discussion group activities to assist patients in overcoming alcohol and drug dependency. Participates in patient health teaching groups as they relate to substance abuse. Participates in unit based activities and continuing education activities. Prepares annual goals and objectives specific to the occupational therapy program. Participates in performance improvement activities. Participates in staff meetings, case conferences, and agency-sponsored educational sessions.
