Volunteen Coordinator - Every other Saturday and Sunday, 8am - 12pm
General Summary Statement:
This position is responsible for the supervision and mentoring of high school student volunteers enrolled in Chester County Hospital's weekend VolunTeen Program. The VolunTeen Coordinator is directly responsible for overseeing the completing of a variety of duties assigned to the student volunteens, while creating an enriching, educational and fulfilling environment for the student volunteens to learn and grow their skills while supporting the healthcare system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The VolunTeen Coordinator is a role shared by two staff, alternating weekend morning shifts and oversight of duties
- Work in partnership with fellow Volunteen Coordinator to consistently supervise and positively mentor student volunteens, during this year-round program
- Document time and attendance for volunteens, address deficiencies in punctuality and attendance
- Communicate and exemplify responsibiltiy, customer service, positive attitude, and professional behavior for the student volunteens
- Promote and communicate with hospital staff on the duties of the student volunteens and the VolunTeen Program
- Prioritize and schedule the workload of activities for the student volunteens and duty requests during the weekend rotation
- Provide orientation, hosptial tour and compliance training for all student volunteens
- Communicate with student volunteens about system-wide compliance such as, mandatory annual flu shots and educational volunteer trainings and record compliance for all students
- Coordinates weekend staff coverage with Volunteer Services Coordinator and fellow Volunteen Coordinator
- Supervise student volenteens when they participate in hospital special events. These requests could include events that take place off-site of CCH.
- Identify appropriate hospital duties that engage student volunteens, thus keeping a consistent and impactful workload that equally motivates the student participants in the spirit of volunteerism
- Participate and creatively plan recognition activities for student volunteens
- Communicate with Director of Volunteer Services, Volunteer Coordinator in ensuring healthy structure, contemporary vision and the short and long term planning for VolunTeen Program success
- VolunTeen Coordinator may be required to attend department meetings and functions in addition to their weekend schedule
- The VolunTeen Program enrolls upwards of 30 students, ages 15-18. The program operates on a year-round schedule
Education Training and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience working with and leading youth preferred
Exceptional people skills to understand and meet the needs of a young audience
Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
Be electronic and social media savvy
