Position Summary
The Community Engaged Education (CEE) Manager is charged with strengthening community-engaged education at WashU. Responsibilities include working with faculty to understand their interests and needs, nurturing community partner-faculty relationships, managing course activity funds, defining community-engaged courses, and developing a multi-week seminar for faculty and community partners to develop and modify approved courses. The role also includes developing resources for student engagement, such as graduate student programs and postdoctoral resources, training modules for developing and delivering community-engaged courses. Additionally, the manager supports graduate student practicums and seminars, and dissertation consultations related to community-engaged scholarship. In collaboration with the Community Partnerships and Practice manager, develops and conducts workshops on local history and culture to promote cultural competency and awareness. Overall, the manager supports integrating community-engagement into curricular development, enhancing student experiences, and strengthening community ties.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Community-engaged Education and Teaching Support
- Work with faculty and community partners to develop community-engaged courses.
- Meet with faculty to learn about their interests, help identify appropriate community partners and activities, develop relationships with community partners working with faculty teaching community engaged courses, and manage community engaged course activity fund.
Community-engaged Education Seminar
- Develop multi-week seminar on Community-engaged teaching/education for faculty and community partners cohorts. Result of the seminar should be a developed course and syllabus ready to be submitted for university approval.
Community-engaged Graduate Student/Practicum Support
- Develop programs and resources to support graduate students and post-doc in their community-engaged scholarship. Resources may include assistance with practicums/placements (as directed by the given department), graduate seminar on community-engaged scholarship, community-engaged dissertation consultations, and presentations for doctoral student orientations.
Student Engagement and Course Support
- Develop resources to support students participating in community engaged courses. Resources may include community engaged graduate assistant programs, training modules to be used in courses (at faculty discretion), for example St. Louis history and culture introductory workshop/resources.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Five years of experience in community engaged scholarship, university level teaching, working with a community and non-profit organization, or related experience.
- Three years of experience facilitating training and workshops for faculty.

$58,400.00 - $99,700.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
