ResponsibilitiesThe Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) seeks a visionary, strategic, and inspirational leader to serve as the next Chair of the Otolaryngology department. Partnering with administrative and nursing leadership, the Chair is responsible for creating and implementing a bold strategic plan for the growth of the service line with the aims of superior quality, safety, efficiency, patient experience, and staff satisfaction. The Chair will oversee, develop and manage Otolaryngology healthcare services across MCHS in an integrated, coordinated and fiscally successful manner.
The Chair will work with MCHS leadership, as well as allied health staff leadership to develop and execute forward-looking strategies to best meet the needs of Otolaryngology patients using specialty expertise, local physician staff, outreach programs, and e-health solutions that advance the highest standards of practice working in a collaborative environment in support of all members of the care team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide inspired and effective leadership to MCHS physician colleagues (including recruitment, development, coaching, mentoring, and succession planning activities), while keeping the MCHS Leadership informed of the performance of the Otolaryngology physicians and staff.
- Lead and manage the Otolaryngology clinical practice, and the integration of practice within and across the MCHS.
- Participate in creation and implementation of the specialty practice operating plan in alignment with the Mayo Clinic Health System strategic plan, representing the Mayo Model of Community Care.
- Develop relationships related to the practice, information systems, culture, and markets at all regional Mayo Clinic Health System Otolaryngology sites.
- Provide ongoing communication of institutional, system, and departmental divisional practice issues to the staff.
- Track and communicate results/progress toward departmental and regional performance measures and targets (e.g., quality, volumes, access/demand, productivity, credentialing/upgrading staff skills, value-based metrics and financial outcomes).
- Foster mutual respect and appreciation for individual differences; promote diversity objectives in all staff selection, performance management, and development efforts; facilitate productive working relationships and resolve conflicts among staff and between staff groups in the Otolaryngology department.
- Strive to develop a consistent and replicable standard of care though out the MCHS by dissemination and direction of best practices.
QualificationsMD, DO or foreign degree equivalent and eligibility for licensure in Minnesota and/or Wisconsin are required. The ideal candidate will be a senior healthcare leader in Otolaryngology, an experienced clinical researcher and an academically active leader. They will possess critical leadership capabilities in driving results, collaboration and leading change.

Compensation DetailThe minimum starting salary range for surgical specialties may range from $290,000 to $830,500. This range reflects full-time total base compensation prior to consideration of additional experience or duties. Pay for the selected candidate may vary based on specialty, experience, FTE, internal equity, or external market data.
