Job Description:
The Director Imaging Information Systems, Tellica reports to the Imaging Information Systems Senior Director. This person leads strategic growth related to information technology (IT), interoperability with electronic medical records (EMRs) and imaging systems, and technical and application of radiology workflow for this entity. The role is also responsible for the safety, performance, stability, usability and security of Tellica’s applications and in conjunction with Intermountain Health.
Scope
This position is responsible for the development of roadmaps, oversight and delivery of the configuration, integration, testing, implementation, and technical support of Tellica’s systems related to radiology and other -ologies used by Tellica and affiliates where applicable. This includes both Tellica’s -developed and vendor-supplied applications. The position works closely with imaging leaders and strategic partners to optimize, innovate, maintain levels of service, and provide knowledge transfer to technical staff on these applications. This role requires deep knowledge of interoperability and how to configure multiple systems to provide imaging workflows for Joint Ventures between Tellica Imaging and other healthcare systems.
Job Essentials
- Provides strategic direction and coordinates planning efforts and alignment of imaging systems, joint ventures, and overall business goals. This includes developing and executing the strategy for interoperability and functionality with Tellica’s imaging technology stack, including the EMR, PACS (Picture Archiving Communication System), and Intermountain Health toolset (diagnostic Viewer, Radiology Workflow tool, Rad Tech Workflow tool, and other systems.)
- Understands business priorities and governance and is responsible for the successful optimization of applications programs and projects. Critical liaison for building new growth initiatives and successfully implementing complex order management and radiology workflows between healthcare systems.
- Serves as a strategic partner with Tellica Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer developing the strategy, the architecture, and the technology to support Tellica Imaging.
- Serves as good steward to Intermountain Health to ensure systems stay up to date and with the most advanced cybersecurity protection.
- Keeps abreast of new healthcare imaging and related infrastructure developments, standards (e.g., DICOM, IHE, HL7, ADT) and trends in areas of technical developments and business expertise. This includes maintaining a high-level understanding of the technical and functional architecture of assigned systems and integration, along with relationships to create access to in-depth knowledge where necessary.
- Understands the security and compliance requirements and complies with all policies and procedures of assigned systems.
- Advises Tellica leadership and key stakeholders for area of expertise on strategic changes that may impact security, workflow, or the business.
- Directs teams to manage projects to completion, on time and within budget and leads complex projects that may cross service areas/divisions.
- Directs resources to play supportive role on projects where team is responsible for key deliverables, properly communicating the status of tasks, risks, and issues where appropriate.
- Works closely with Tellica leaders and vendors in identifying, evaluating, and selecting specific radiology imaging software/ hardware and integrations for approved projects. Serves as a point of escalation for complex issues and problems according to service levels and according to imaging and IT standards.
- Collaboratively works with peers, internal and external stakeholders, and vendors to ensure business needs are met.
- Collaborates with Tellica peers and key stakeholders to actively improve data quality in support of Tellica’s data and analytics goals.
- Represents the company when dealing with clinical, radiology imaging, and services vendors or other external entities.
- Attracts, develops and maintains top talent to continually raise the bar on the capabilities and deliverables of the organization.
- Mentors and coaches managers/supervisors and other team members and ensures there is an adequate management succession plan in place.
- Builds a winning culture with a repeatable, process-based approach that recognizes the interdependence of all key stakeholders in the solutions delivery process.
- Responsible for planning and managing the daily operations of Tellica systems within the parameters of their departmental operating and capital budgets. Responsible for daily operating performance of Tellica’s radiology imaging and workflow applications, integrations and customer support in the defined portfolio in alignment with the organization's defined methods and metrics (e.g., IT Service Management, Technology Business Management, Agile, other Systems Development Lifecycles).
- Participates in the definition of the overall quality standards and best practices. Ensures that teams are compliant with these standards. Responsible for directing the work of employees for areas of responsibility, including staffing, goal setting, coaching and mentoring, employee recognition, engagement and training, and performance management which includes addressing performance concerns through corrective action.
- Manages customer, stakeholder, and vendor relationships and expectations. Focuses on solutions and strategies that create win / win situations both inside and outside of the organization.
- Regularly communicates with staff through huddles, team meetings, individual one on one meetings, rounding and skip levels interviews as appropriate, and manages resource allocation to projects to ensure timely delivery within budget and according to requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in clinical or allied health, business, computer science, information management or other technical field and eight years of experience in multiple I.S. disciplines with four years of application experience.

- Master’s degree in clinical or allied health, business, computer science, information management or other technical field and five years of experience in multiple I.S. disciplines with four years of application experience.
- Experience with Radiology workflow technologies, processes and environments with a proven ability to direct strategy and operations (e.g., packaged applications, HL7- DICOM-IHE integration of applications, service-oriented architectures, highly available, scalable, and secure solutions, client-server, Interactive and Batch applications, frameworks, architectures, database programming languages, release and configuration management, various development methodologies, emerging technologies)
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and optimizing system interoperability across complex healthcare environments. This includes configuring and integrating applications to support seamless imaging workflows across joint ventures and enterprise systems along with the ability to troubleshoot, document, and enhance data exchange processes across clinical and operational systems
- Demonstrated effective leadership, negotiation and influencing skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- ITIL certified
- Five years of experience in an application role.
- Experience working in a healthcare or healthcare insurance environment.
- Ability to manage geographically dispersed teams, including off-shore and on-shore.
- Project Management experience.

- The role can be performed remotely but will require travel to areas where Intermountain conducts business as needed. Currently, we are not hiring remote workers in the following states: CA, CT, HI, IL, NY, RI, VT, and WA.
- This is an exempt, full-time position. Pay offers are determined by prior years of relevant experience within the established pay range. In addition to the annual salary, to show our commitment to you and assist with your transition,, we may offer a sign-on and relocation bonus when applicable. With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.
