Job Description:
The AVP Safety and Clinical Risk leads the team that integrates safety and clinical risk as a member of the Clinical Excellence leadership team. This role leads programs that improve patient safety and reduce harm to benefit patients and caregivers. Additionally, the role supports clinical risk management functions to support patients, caregivers, and leaders in response to harm events.
The role is hybrid and will require regular travel to areas where Intermountain conducts business (approximately 1-2 times per month). We will consider candidates who live in, or are willing to relocate to, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming, or Montana and are within a reasonable commuting distance to an Intermountain Health care site. Currently, we are not hiring remote workers in the following states: CA, CT, HI, IL, NY, RI, VT, and WA.
Job Description Summary
The role supports clinical and operational leaders at the system, region, market, and care site level. Scope includes all Intermountain Health clinical functions including clinical programs, service lines, shared services, medical group, acute and ambulatory care sites, following a system led, locally deployed support model. The role supports strategy and execution aligned with the Clinical Excellence leadership team to drive overarching strategies that support the delivery of highly reliable care that is safe, high-quality, patient-centered, and equitable.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or other business related field. (Education must be obtained through an accredited institution and will be verified.)
- Trained in improvement science (i.e., Six Sigma, Lean, or Workout and Project management, ATP)
- Demonstrated experience leading successful Quality improvement projects.
- Experience working in a complex health system (hospitals, ambulatory clinics, post-acute care, etc.)
- Experience with change management with the ability to provide leadership in the adaptation and implementation of new processes and /or technology that enhance Quality.
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams, preferably in a related area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in nursing, with active license in nursing.
- CPHRM Certification (Professional in Healthcare Risk Management)Experience with external entities that drive and support Quality approaches and standards, including government agencies, academic institutions, universities and related organizations of higher education, and other public institutions
- Ability to rally teams, build trust, and inspire a shared vision.
- Track record of leading through influence and collaboration.
- Innovative thinking and willingness to embrace technology to improve safety and quality platforms.
- Strong operational acumen such as managing a budget and aligning resources with strategic priorities.

Additional Information
- This is an exempt, full-time position with a compensation range of $179,000-203,000 annually and as determined by prior years of relevant experience. Pay offers are determined by prior years of relevant experience within the established pay range. In addition to the annual salary, to show our commitment to you and assist with your transition,, we may offer a sign-on and relocation bonus when applicable. With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
