Summary:
- To provide administrative support to all members in the Department of Nursing Education at PPMC. This includes direct support to the Director of Nursing for Professional Development and indirect support the Director of Magnet Program. Also supports credentialing and re-credentialing for advanced practice providers at PPMC.
Responsibilities:
- Supports the Director of Nursing for Professional Development and Research in all administrative aspects of the department. Included in this is the scheduling of all meetings and conferences as well as travel arrangements. Preparation of all correspondence generated by the DON regarding administrative matters.
- Supports Clinical Nurse Educators and/or Clinical Nurse Specialist with projects, schedules, correspondence, supply orders and other duties as assigned.
- Ensures compliance with JCAHO requirements regarding Behavioral Health Services minutes. Provide follow-up information on issues that are raised at meetings and report fmdings for further handling back to the Chief and Director of Nursing.
- Serves as receptionist for the Professional Development Department.
- Creates and maintains Nursing Education schedule for classrooms, computer rooms, simulation laboratory and meeting rooms located on 3910 Building, 7th Floor. Coordinate and schedule same rooms for use with UPHS personnel.
- Responds to telephone, emails and correspondence regarding Presbyterian School of Practical Nursing. This includes obtaining authorization to release information; processing payment for official and unofficial school transcripts request; mailing transcripts and faxing education verification to requesting colleges, universities and/or students.
- Composes and manages the production and distribution of communications including memorandums, reports, newsletters, etc. Type manuscripts, abstracts, figures, and legends for submission to various journals for publications.
- Conducts inventory and orders all office supplies: Processes check requests and purchase orders for nursing education and magnet program.
- Orders and distributes scrub uniforms to PPMC nursing orientees.
- Receives and returns telephone calls and emails for Professional Development Department.
- Reports security environmental, maintenance and facility issues for the nursing education area and coordinate follow-up.
- Provides support of all credentialing / re-credentialing activities for onboarding and existing advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants primarily, but can also include nurse midwives and nurse anesthestists) in Penn Medicine. The coordinator will have expertise and practice in accordance with UPHS policies, Medical Staff Bylaws, Board of Nursing and Board of Medicine state regulations, and Joint Commission standards. Additionally, the coordinator will support activities within the Department of Advanced Practice including administrative support of the Associate Director, coordination of CE / CME events, support for committee projects, initiatives, and events, coordination of meetings, and processing of travel reimbursements. This position works independently but interfaces regularly with physicians, advanced practice providers, administrators, Office of Medical Affairs, and the State Boards of Nursing/Medicine regularly. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. This position requires familiarity with medical terminology.

Education or Equivalent Experience:
- H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
- And 0-1 years experience in health care environment preferred.
