The Cardiovascular Intervention Center is a core element of the Smidt Heart Institute, performing over 8,000 procedures annually. This department serves patients from neonates to geriatrics, operating within a twelve-laboratory facility that conducts a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for coronary artery disease, heart muscle function, and heart valve dysfunction.
We are seeking a dedicated clinical nurse for a unique hybrid position in congenital/pediatric cardiac care, focusing on neonatal and congenital heart procedures. This role involves participating directly in cardiac catheterization lab activities while also managing the congenital data registry and supporting congenital interventional procedures. Candidates will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of critical hands-on procedures within a collaborative environment.
As a Clinical Nurse III, you will be responsible and accountable for applying the nursing process to deliver exceptional patient care. This fast-paced role spans Electrophysiology and Cardiac Catheterization procedure rooms, as well as the Holding area. Additionally, you will be cross-trained to utilize your clinical competencies for circulating, monitoring, and scrubbing invasive procedures, catering to a patient population that ranges from neonates to geriatrics. You will provide seamless care for cardiac patients from admission through discharge, including extended hours in a procedure setting with x-ray exposure. Responsibilities encompass on-call coverage for emergency procedures during evenings, nights, and weekends, with a required maximum response time of 30 minutes.
The schedule for this position consists of four (4) ten-hour shifts on weekdays, occasional Saturdays, and being on-call for approximately nine (9) nights and weekends within a six-week period. Employees residing more than 30 minutes from the facility will have accommodations provided at a local hotel during on-call shifts to ensure timely availability for emergencies.

- Minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing experience required, specifically with pediatric and neonatal/congenital heart patients;
- at least 1 year of critical care experience strongly recommended; experience in the Cardiac Cath Lab preferred.
- Candidates should have experience in diagnostic and therapeutic interventions across all patient populations for CN II or III qualification. A minimum of 2 years of appropriate Cath Lab/EP experience is required for CN III qualification; otherwise, candidates will be considered for CN II.
