ResponsibilitiesResponsible for participating in the identification of and planning for laboratory education needs in collaboration with laboratory leadership, assisting with Education program budget preparation, participating in the development of educational programs for medical trainees (pathologists, residents, fellows, post docs, etc.) as directed by laboratory leadership and Residency/Fellowship Program Director. Participating in the coordination of development, implementation and maintenance of clinical laboratory education programs for students/interns rotating in the laboratory in compliance with the affiliate program requirements and in collaboration with Mayo School of Health Sciences and laboratory/Division/Department leadership. Participating in development and coordination of new employee training and education programs in collaboration with laboratory and division leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Participating as clinical education faculty in formal education programs within the Mayo School of Health Sciences (MSHS) as assigned. Teaches/trains/mentors student and employees, maintaining competency in laboratory specialty and in education methodologies. Spending at least 50% of time in laboratory education activities.

QualificationsBachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, human biological science from an accredited institution, or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, a bachelor's degree with laboratory certification if applicable. Two years relevant laboratory experience required. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case by case basis
Additional Skills and Qualifications:
Prior experience in teaching/training/mentoring students/employees is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal), strong organizational skills and self-initiative; patience and the ability to effectively coach and mentor others. Experience with data collection, organization, analysis, and delivery of information. Able to work as a team member including taking direction from others, and self initiating and managing projects as appropriate.
License or Certification:
ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.
