The Neurodiagnostic Tech III (EEG Tech), under the direction from the Neurophysiology Supervisor, is responsible for performing routine, specialized, and complex neurodiagnostic procedures on pediatric patients, including neonates through adolescents. This role requires advanced technical expertise, data reading skills, and the ability to mentor junior technologists. The Neurodiagnostic Tech III collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure electrode accuracy, technical integrity, and quality of all neurodiagnostic procedures performed. The technologist must be able to work independently utilizing a variety of sophisticated instrumentation and applies valid clinical judgement in the performance of clinical neurophysiology procedures.
Summary of Essential Duties:
- Perform routine assigned neurodiagnostic studies in the inpatient and outpatient settings as requested
- Studies include EEG, LTM, Routine and Ambulatory
- Assists with department projects including but not limited to research, database maintenance, and quality improvement
- The technologist may be asked to head projects, taking a lead role in the maintenance and completion of neurophysiology task that aid the lab and/or the scientific community
- Prepare rooms before and after studies and/or procedures
- Explains details of procedure to patients, in accordance with standards of practice as defined by Cedars-Sinai and applicable certifying or regulatory standards
- The Tech III will work with adult patients on an as-needed basis
Education:
- Associate's Degree/College Diploma in an Accredited Neurodiagnostics Program required
- Bachelor's Degree in a biological science preferred
License/Certifications:
- R.EEGT by ABRET required
- BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
- CLTM from ABRET preferred
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Neurodiagnostics required
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Pediatrics preferred.
- Applicants with at least 3 years of experience may be considered as a Neuro Tech II
