Overview
This position reports to the Nurse Manager and Assistant Director of Nursing to help actualize the vision, mission, values, and goals of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women's Health, and the Montefiore Medical Center. The NP is a key member of the clinical team which assesses and provides care to a selected group of patients in collaboration with physicians; carries out the plan of care for their patient panel; participates in performance improvement activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills. Weiler campus homebase but, will cover at alternate ambulatory site if required.
Schedule: Four-day work week, Mondays and Fridays required.
3 days at 9.5 hours and 1 day at 9.0 hours
Responsibilities
- Performs and records a complete physical examination, health history, and care plan
- In collaboration with physicians and other health care providers, coordinates care of patients, and evaluates plan of care toward health goals and modifies plan of care accordingly
- Develops and analyzes differential diagnoses based on clinical and laboratory data
- Prescribes medications and educates the patient and/or involved others about the drug regimen, interactions and side effects
- Participates in a team approach to health care by acting as liaison between subspecialist and other members of the primary care team
- Performs related duties as necessary
Requirements
- Masters Degree
- 5 years work experience
- New York State License for a Nurse Practitioner and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an NP
- DEA, BLS & ACLS are required
- 2 years experience in women’s health required
- Excellent critical thinking skills and extensive knowledge of physical assessment
- Ability to work for OBGYN oncology and general OBGYN
