Thomas Jefferson University invites applicants for faculty positions at the Assistant Professor or higher level (tenure track) with scientific interests in mitochondrial structure or function in the context of mitochondrial diseases, neuroscience, cardiac and cancer biology. Successful candidates will join the recently established MitoCare Center for Mitochondrial Imaging Research and Diagnostics and interact with investigators in these and related areas, with the goal of developing effective, multi-investigator groups in focused research themes. Applications from individuals with MD, MD/PhD, PhD are welcome. Preference will be given to federally funded investigators with cutting edge research programs.
Job Description
Thomas Jefferson University is home to one of the largest and most active groups of investigators in a Department of Pathology in the United States with a strong focus on environmental carcinogenesis, pathobiology, computational biology, matrix biology, mitochondrial biology, and alcohol research. Key areas of interest include molecular toxicology and environmental carcinogenesis, cellular signaling pathways, neurodegenerative diseases, alcohol-induced tissue and cellular injury, computational and systems biology, tumor biology, cell death and mitochondrial dynamics. Active interdepartmental centers, including the Kimmel Cancer Center, the Center for Molecular Carcinogenesis, the Farber Institute for Neurosciences and the Wills Eye Institute provide a framework for programmatic development. Important collaborations both among departmental investigators and between departmental scientists and others on campus encompass the areas of concentration for which we currently seek applicants.
