Overview
The Job Developers for the HELP Program will recruit, asses, and develop low-income individuals as they enter healthcare careers.
Flexible schedule is required as some events and training are scheduled on weekends and in the evening. The position is in the Bronx. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:30AM - 5:00PM. There is some travel within New York City.
Responsibilities
- Job Developers provide vocational services to participants including monitoring their progress in training, communicating and coordinating with training program staff about any barriers to training completion, conduct life skills development, and job placement/retention services.
- They conduct workshops, group meetings, and trainings using curriculum provided and other prepared materials to address specific topics and skills.
- They prepare participants for employment including interview preparation, conducting mock interviews, and resume development.
- Leveraging relationships with partner agencies, government agencies and support resources are part of the role.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree is required along with Workforce Development experience assisting participants to complete training and find jobs and assisting individuals to address barriers to successful engagement and completion of the program.
- Knowledge of public benefits and how training/employment impact these benefits is helpful.
- Strong interpersonal skills (written and oral), computer skills including Microsoft Office suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, internet skills to effectively identify resources and conduct job search, and presentation skills and ability to follow curriculum are needed.
