ResponsibilitiesA Graduate Research Appointment (GRA) position is available to work with the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) group that is within Hematology Research.
The CLL research group has a major focus on understanding the nature and scope of the leukemic microenvironment in the pathobiology of CLL. For example, significant advances of our group have included detailing the impact of stromal cells and their secreted products on leukemic B cells and the ability of CLL B cells to modify the stromal cell functional status. We also employ approaches including CUT&Tag, CUT&RUN, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, CRISPR, genetic/epigenetic editing, and integrative bioinformatic analyses to explore the functional importance of epigenetic regulation in CLL progression and drug resistance.
Responsibilities:
- Sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals, paper publication, grant commitments.
- Collects, enters, and summarizes data.
- Assists in the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
- Performs basic statistical data analysis; prepares tables/charts/graphs and assists in organizing data.
- Presents at research laboratory meetings and contributes to writing of manuscripts.
- Works under supervision and may perform some assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.
Desired applicant will have:
- A solid understanding of basic lab techniques, equipment, and safety.
- The ability to organize and carry out laboratory techniques independently and in a team setting.
- Previous experience with molecular cloning, cell culture, flow cytometry, cell sorting and purification are preferred but not required.
- In addition, this position requires excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Must have the ability to keep track of, and organize, numerous samples and associated results electronically (i.e., MS Excel, MS PPT, etc) and manually (via storage in freezers).
- Experience with basic data analysis is preferred.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree with a strong background in science, technology, engineering, or math. Authorization to work and remain in the United States, without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorship now, or in the future (for example, be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident, refugee or asylee.
Students that do not meet these criteria do not qualify.
- Applicants who are currently in Graduate or Medical School are not eligible.
