Exciting Opportunity at MSK: As an RN for the Immigrant Health and Cancer Disparities (IHCD) Service, you will provide healthcare to underserved groups and support research across multiple teams. You will participate in research projects conducted in IHCD’s mobile health unit and at health fairs. Join us to make a meaningful difference in many lives!
Role Overview:
Meet in community settings with immigrant and underserved populations to discuss health-related issues, provide health education, perform cancer screening, and offer counseling.
Conduct clinical evaluations including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, BMI, and waist circumference measurements at Mobile Health Unit events and community health fairs.
Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate health education passionate about disease prevention, cancer screening, chronic disease management, and healthy lifestyle behaviors.
Educate participants on recommended cancer screenings and distribute colorectal cancer screening kits, including instructions for use and follow-up.
Perform venipuncture for PSA blood draws and ensure accurate handling, processing, and transport of specimens in accordance with institutional protocols.
Document participant encounters, screening activities, and follow-up plans accurately in EPIC and other required systems.
Communicate screening results and support appropriate follow-up and referrals in collaboration with providers and navigators.
Act as an integral member of the clinical research team to provide direct nursing care to research study participants.
Implement the standards for research protocols in compliance with regulatory, institutional, and external agencies.
Support research activities including participant recruitment, consenting, data collection, and program evaluation.
Serve as a liaison to community partners and assist participants in navigating healthcare and social service resources.
Assist with Mobile Health Unit and health fair activities, including setup, teardown, equipment checks, and maintaining the quality of clinical supplies.
Gain research experience, including using a globally recognized data capture platform.
Participate in an individualized training/orientation program geared to instructing or reinforcing the principles of Clinical Trials Nursing practiced at MSKCC.
Key Qualifications:
New York State RN license
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
Prior Public or Community Health or Clinical research nursing experience preferred
Phlebotomy skills preferred
Proficiency with clinical and office software (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel)
Spanish and multi-lingual preferred
