Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek. Probationary period will not apply to shift changes.
Montefiore Medical Center is proud to announce the upcoming launch of a new acute inpatient psychiatric facility dedicated to providing high-quality, short-term psychiatric care for children and adolescents. This specialized unit will enhance access to timely, developmentally appropriate mental health services, offering a safe, structured, and compassionate environment to support patients in crisis and help stabilize their condition.
As part of our efforts to build a strong, multidisciplinary team, we are currently seeking a Psychiatry Technician. The Psychiatry Technician plays a vital role in the Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit, delivering direct patient care and clinical support under the guidance of registered nurses.
Responsibilities
- This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and structured environment, engaging patients in therapeutic activities, and assisting children and adolescents with their daily needs throughout hospitalization.
- Additionally, the Psychiatric Technician performs essential clinical tasks, including phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care testing, in alignment with a trauma-informed and developmentally sensitive model of care.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required, along with two years of full-time experience in nursing or psychiatric/behavioral health care within a high-volume, intensive care setting. Alternatively, a satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. However, all candidates must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Graduate of a State Certified PCT/PCA program.
- Completion of and certified to perform vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs and blood glucose monitoring.
- Successful completion of an appropriate training program in the application and use of restraints and seclusion must be completed.
- Basic Life Support.
