Position Overview
Location:Hybrid (Inpatient Hospital & Outpatient Clinic)
Schedule:8-hour shifts; requires 16 hours of weekend coverage per month.
Capital Health Medical Group is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) for a full-time, hybrid Postpartum role. As an advanced practice registered nurse specializing in maternal healthcare after childbirth, you will manage physical recovery, address acute complications, support mental health, and coordinate comprehensive follow-up care. This dynamic position splits time between inpatient postpartum rounding and outpatient reproductive health services, ensuring seamless continuity of care for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
Inpatient Postpartum Care
- Daily Rounding:Conduct daily physical assessments and clinical reviews for both vaginal and cesarean delivery patients throughout their hospital stay.
- Acute Management:Monitor physical recovery, interpret laboratory results, initiate clinical orders, and formulate definitive treatment plans.
- Emergency Response:Respond promptly to pages, texts, and alerts regarding postpartum patient status, including urgent or emergent complications (e.g., hemorrhage, infection).
- Lactation & Mental Health Support:Provide breastfeeding education and conduct mental health screenings, including evaluations for postpartum depression.
- Discharge Coordination:Manage comprehensive follow-up planning and discharge care coordination.
Outpatient Clinic Care
- Obstetrical Care:Conduct routine prenatal and postpartum clinic visits.
- Gynecological Care:Perform routine annual well-woman exams and evaluate acute or chronic gynecological issues.
- Family Planning:Provide personalized contraceptive counseling and management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Certification:Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program. Board certification as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
- Licensure:Active, unrestricted Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license in the State of New Jersey (or eligible to obtain).
- Experience:Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D) or Mother/Baby (Postpartum) care.
- Skills:Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced inpatient and outpatient environments.
