Responsibilities Mayo Clinic Florida is seeking a dedicated and passionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a strong interest in joining our Orthopedic Surgery Trauma Service team. This role involves direct support for trauma service, with daily trauma meetings and inpatient care starting at 6 AM. Responsibilities include independent consults, hospital follow-ups, preoperative and postoperative care, fracture care, and independent procedure visits in the clinic. Surgical-assist is required, and future Emergency Department Call coverage may be necessary. Collaborate with student, resident, and fellow trainees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain patient history and perform physical exams.
- Order and perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Formulate diagnostic impressions and develop treatment plans.
- Monitor therapeutic interventions.
- Offer counseling and education.
- Make referrals and prescribe medication.
- Perform minor procedures.
- Assist with departmental process improvement and policy development.
- Provide direct support for orthopedic surgery trauma service.
- Attend daily trauma meetings and manage inpatient care.
- Conduct independent consults, hospital follow-ups, preoperative and postoperative care, fracture care, and independent procedure visits.
- Assist in surgical procedures.
- Potentially cover Emergency Department Call.
- Collaborate with student, resident, and fellow trainees.

Qualifications Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current FL RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP or ACNP.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the FL State Board of Medical Practice.
Additional Qualifications:
Active BLS, ACLS and RN First Assist certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required
