Job Description:
The primary role is to develop the Medical Assistant Teams and Medical Assistant Leads at SCL Health Medical Group Clinics with a focus on workflows, protocols and team building and development. This role will strongly collaborate with the Clinic Managers and partner with Process Improvement, Ambulatory Informatics, Pharmacy and other system resources.
Medical Assistant Development & Quality Improvement
Key Responsibilities
Staff Development & Coaching
- Lead the development and coaching of Medical Assistants (MAs), fostering professional growth and high performance.
- Design and maintain comprehensive orientation and training materials for MAs and Lead MAs.
- Partner with Lead MAs to ensure effective onboarding, education, and ongoing training of MA staff.
Team Collaboration & Relationship Building
- Coach providers and MAs to cultivate strong, trust-based working relationships that enhance patient-centered care.
Subject Matter Expertise
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the MA Scope of Practice, offering guidance and support across clinical operations.
Quality Improvement & Process Optimization
- Observe clinical workflows and recommend improvements by analyzing, evaluating, and redesigning processes to enhance efficiency and care quality.
- Actively participate in clinic Quality Improvement (QI) meetings, supporting MA-driven initiatives and contributing to process improvement projects.
Clinical Protocols & Compliance
- Oversee the implementation and standardization of MA protocols, ensuring alignment with clinical and regulatory standards.
- Ensure MA compliance with pharmacy guidelines, including vaccine administration, controlled substances handling, CLIA proficiency, and medication safety practices.
Recruitment & Hiring Support
- Contribute to the MA hiring process by advising and collaborating with Lead MAs during candidate interviews.
Minimum Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) course completion card from the American Heart Association
- Experience working as a Registered Nurse at least 2 years
Preferred
- Bachelor’s of Nursing
- Three or more years of clinical nursing experience. Primary care nursing &/or Specialty care experience
- One or more years of leadership/management including process improvement and change management experience.

● Proficient in advocating for MA and RN clinical support roles as they pertain to
primary care patient centered care
● Strong understanding of the value of RN role on an integrated primary care
team
● Ability to interact frequently with Clinic Manager, Practice Administrators,
Executive Director of Operations and RN Manager (update to appropriate title)
● Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business
hours or scheduled shifts is required
● Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
