Position Summary
This position sits within the Strategic Insight Team and is a vital forward-looking role for the Olin Business School. The analyst will organize, and analyze data to recommend program-specific, promotions and target audiences, as well as identify relevant trends in the higher-education market. The role is responsible for providing data analysis, queries, and data drill downs on marketing campaigns across several channels. The analyst will also interpret results and prepare reports and presentations based on primary and secondary research, databases and other marketing information resources. They will be working alongside other analysts to provide performance and strategic insight for Olin Business School management.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Data Analysis
- Responsible for delivering data-driven insights and reporting that inform marketing, communication and reputation-building efforts on behalf of Washington University’s Olin Business School. As a core member of a broader analytics team, the Analyst will research, organize, and analyze data to identify trends and elevate insights related to building and enhancing connection with target audiences for university priorities.
- Identify trends and patterns in student behavior, recruitment, and retention.
- Develop Key Performance Indicators and track initiative performance relative to targets.
- Executes pre and post marketing campaign analysis and other analytics as necessary to determines the campaign Return-On-Investment (ROI).
- Apply qualitative and quantitative analysis in a variety of areas.
- Provide actionable insight—findings are ready to package in summaries and story format.
- Analyze contact engagement data for regional corporations to inform external engagement strategy.
- Support ad-hoc analytical requests.
Reporting and Communications
- Construct dashboard visualization techniques and translate the data to easily understood stories.
- Convert complex data findings into audience tailored summaries, tables, graphs, and data visualizations.
- Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Monitor and forecast marketing trends and identify opportunities for new initiatives and promotions.
- Support quick-turnaround ad hoc reporting requests.
Strategic Insight and Planning
- Recommend improvements to marketing campaigns and strategies based on data analysis.
- Support development, implementation, and performance tracking for marketing plans and strategies to achieve school goals.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of marketing efforts.
Market Research
- Analyze research on prospective students, target audiences, and competitors.
- Gather information on market conditions, competitive benchmarking, student demographics, and preferences.
- Identify opportunities for new initiatives and promotions.
- Leverage research and analysis to develop prospective student profiles by program.
- Support market study design and administration.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in analytics or similar specialization.
- Three years or more of experience with marketing analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, Salesforce or other CRM systems, and social media analytics platforms.
- Three years or more of experience with business intelligence platforms (Tableau, Cognos, Power BI).
- Three years or more of demonstrated proficiency in data analysis and statistical techniques.
- Knowledge of best practices in data management, data hygiene, and overall data quality processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, macros and vlookups.
- Marketing segmentation analysis experience.
- Experience in SEO, PPC, or email marketing.
- Experience in research methods preferred.
- Working knowledge of experimental design.
- SQL and Python experience.

Salary Range
$58,400.00 - $99,700.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
