Position Overview
Under the direct supervision of the staff CT technologist, the CT Resident technologist works with the CT Technologist to become proficient in CT by meeting the following: learns to proficiently perform pre-screening, medical history review, post processing, study completions, proficiently operate the various systems, including all CT operating and scanning systems, injectors, and monitors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Under the direct supervision of a CT Technologist, the CT Resident technologist demonstrates a thorough understanding of computerized tomography imaging principles and theory, anatomy, positioning, and technologist for obtaining optimal imaging studies.
- Adheres to patient identification guidelines and the input of information into files ensuring a high degree of accuracy. Enters written and electronic data accurately in comments to provide all pertinent data to radiologists to assist in the interpretation of imaging studies.
- Demonstrates protection and safety for patients and staff as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines pertaining to radiation safety, including the ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles.
- Assist physicians in the performance of various studies using standard department protocols and appropriate protective actions and infection control procedures.
- Reports any accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology. New Jersey Radiology Technologist License. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration. Certification in computed tomography required and must obtain CAT Scan certification within one year of hire from moving to CAT Scan Technologist role. Associate’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Cat Scan Residents must complete the ARRT CT clinical experience requirements and demonstrate competency in 125 procedures. Available to train 48 hours per pay period.
- Other Credentials: AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider, Diagnostic Radiography License
