The MICU APP Service Team has an exciting PART TIME (20+ hours / week) opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Advanced Practice team in their very busy practice at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Penn Medicine. The team consists of 11 NPs/PAs who provide the highest quality care and work with 5 MD Hospitalists to cover 16 MICU beds.
The APP/MD Hospitalist team is the first of its kind at Penn Medicine. The APPS are responsible for caring for 5-8 patients, procedures such as central lines, arterial lines, paracenteses, lumbar punctures, and thoracenteses. The APPS and MD work collaboratively and are resources for one another. The APPs and MD hospitalists present daily to Critical Care Attending during rounds and manage patients in collaboration with Critical Care Attending. The APPs participate in unit-based research, QI initiatives and present nationally at conferences. They collaborate with ED and Medicine services to care for high acuity chronically/critically ill medicine patients.
Clinical work hours include 60% days, 40% nights, every 3rd weekend and 1 winter/1 summer holiday.
Minimum Requirements:
- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Master’s Prepared Physician Assistant
- Pennsylvania licensure and certification as an ACNP or PA-C
- Prescriptive authority required
- Critical care and/or internal medicine experience preferred
- BLS, ACLS through American Heart Association required
Additional Information:
All Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants function under the guidelines designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The CRNP or PA hired will be held accountable through a formal job description, the delineation of privileges, and their agreement with their collaborating/supervising physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement.
