We are looking for a caring, diligent, and cooperative Emergency Department Assistant (EDA) to join our dynamic Emergency Services team. The EDA acts as a central point of contact for patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals, aiding in maintaining seamless communication and efficient operations in a fast-paced setting. What will you be doing in this role?
- Serve as the department’s front-facing representative, welcoming patients, families, and visitors with warmth and integrity.
- Answer and route telephone calls using courteous and effective communication practices.
- Facilitate communication via fax, phone, and in-person interactions, ensuring timely and accurate information flow.
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation and ensure adequate inventory of supplies and patient records.
- Retrieve previous patient visit records and EKGs, and assist with timely follow-up on medical record addenda.
- Support physicians, nurses, and other staff with access to computer systems and clerical resources.
- Respond to patient call lights and direct requests to appropriate team members.
- Monitor and communicate STAT and urgent orders via CS-Link.
- Assist with inventory control, ordering patient-specific supplies, and maintaining operational forms.
- Act as a liaison for trauma, code white, and critical pediatric cases, ensuring timely interdepartmental communication.
- Monitor fax and dictation systems and manage pandemic run sheets.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the department’s mission and patient care goals.
Education
- Minimum Requirement: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Additional coursework or certification in healthcare administration, medical office procedures, or a related field is a plus
Experience
- Minimum Requirement: No prior experience required.
- Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in a medical clerical or administrative support role, or successful completion of an approved course in hospital clerical responsibilities
