Role Summary:
• Greets patients and visitors in a prompt and pleasant manner.
• Channels all incoming calls and routes calls to appropriate departments. Responds to emergency calls in an appropriate manner.
• Relays messages for the on-call provider through the medical assistant.
• Assists other offices with overflow for appointment scheduling.
• Verifies and enters all new and updated demographic, billing information and insurance information in Intergy.
• Schedules, coordinates, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments. Relays necessary messages to staff.
• Maintains work area in a neat, safe, and orderly manner.
• Answers the phone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
• Answers questions regarding patient appointments.
• Checks email at least every 2 hours and responds according to procedure.
• Voicemails must be checked every 2 hours and responded to by end of the business day.
• Checks messages and documents in Allscripts at least every two hours and completes promptly.
• Reports any patient, physician, or employee complaints or problems to department manager immediately.
• Answers questions regarding patient appointments/referrals.
• Attends meeting as required.
• Has access to and works with protected health information daily.
• Will follow protocol for providing proper notification for absence or tardiness.
• Maintains patient confidentiality of patient information.
• Other duties as assigned.
Who you are:
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Excellent telephone, computer and typing skills.
• One plus (1+) year experience in a medical office/clinical setting environment preferred.
• Must be able to fluently speak, write and understand English.
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a cheerful, positive and respectful attitude in a high-paced and stressful environment.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong sense of customer service.
• Ability to multi-task and maintain high attention to detail, maintaining accuracy with multiple interruptions.
• Ability to uphold organizational values, work ethically and with integrity, treat people respectfully and in a way that inspires trust.
