Infusion Nurse

Boca Raton, Florida

The Infusion Nurseis responsible forthe safe delivery of chemo/immunotherapy infusions along with blood product transfusions. Shouldpossessexcellent IV therapy skills, able to mix chemotherapy, calculate doses,monitorlab values, knowledge of NCCN guidelines and regimens that are standard of care.

Whatyou’lldo:

Answers routine questions frompatients,and family.

Assessespatientvia the telephone and acts accordingly.

Assistsphysician and team members to meet the patient’s needs.

Coordination of oncology and chemotherapy clinic visits including assessment of pre-visit documentation and lab work, interpretation and implementation of therapeutic orders and arrangement ofappropriate followup appointments including referrals.

Deliverschemo/immunotherapy and blood products.

Handling, preparation, and proper disposal of drugs.

Identifiesandpursuesown learning needs. Attends in-services andparticipatesin other continuing education activities and/or oncology – chemotherapy-related professional associations or programs.

Involved inthe chemotherapydrug admixture.

Makesfollow up patient appointments orfollowsup on patient appointments.

Obtains patient histories and laboratory results; takes and records various readings such as heart and respiratory rate, blood pressure, weight, body temperature, mental status, etc.

Orders chemotherapy administering drugs and supplies; accounts for medical supply stock.

Provides clinical leadership and direction to the cancer care experience in complex and unpredictable situations.

Provides educational information to patients, family, etc.pertaining tothe administration of chemotherapy. Answers inquiries and provides advice as needed.

Responsible for patient assessmentfordrug toxicities daily.

Schedules radiological studies.

Monitorspatient’sprogress through Chemotherapy treatment.

Create a supportive environment for Chemotherapy patients.

Who you are:

Ability to assesspatientvia telephone and act accordingly.

Ability to perform multi-tasks.

Ability to work with the physician and other team members to deliver safe and effective care to patients.

Excellent phlebotomy and communication skills.

Experience with chemotherapy drug admixture.

Oncology experience preferred or oneyearRN experience with direct patient care.

Skilled in computer use and EMR procedures.

Skilled in obtaining venipuncture for the delivery of chemotherapy drugs.

Skilled in proper documentation needed forpatient’smedical records.

Skilled in steriletechniquefor procedures.

Associate degree in nursing, BLS certification, Chemotherapy Certificationpreferred

OCN if eligible

Must properly control the release of proprietary and confidentialinformation

All employeesare responsible formaintainingcompliance with HIPAAregulations

Ability to mix drugs,preferred
