Position Summary
The Associate Director of Community Fundraising will support the growth of the Siteman Cancer Center and WashU Medicine’s community fundraising program by managing a portfolio of community fundraising donors and the program’s peer-to-peer platform. This position will also conceptualize and produce collateral materials for the program and assist with the development and implementation of a robust communication strategy for community fundraising donors. Successful collaboration and an appreciation of complex organizations are critical, as the associate director will work closely with colleagues across Siteman Cancer Center, WashU Medicine, and University Advancement to accomplish the primary duties and responsibilities of the position.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Siteman Cancer Center and WashU Medicine Community Fundraising Program
- Identify, cultivate, and steward community fundraising donors and prospects at the $1,000 - $250,000 gift range along with donors assigned by the Senior Director to increase and maintain the community event fundraising program donor pipeline for Siteman Cancer Center and WashU Medicine.
- In partnership with the Senior Director and Medical Advancement gift officers, develop appropriate faculty and Siteman/WashU Medicine partner relationships to effectively identify prospective community fundraising donors.
- Support the Senior Director with the management and execution of proactive recruitment of new event opportunities to grow the program as well as create a meaningful recognition and engagement plan for community fundraisers in order to assist with retention efforts. These activities may include but are not limited to community fundraising events and marketing best practice lunch and learns, development of collateral materials, promotional materials, and targeted e-communications.
Peer-to-Peer Platform Management
- Conceptualize and execute best practices for the platform to meet the needs of internal and external users.
- Assist with vetting and approval of new event fundraising pages and submissions through the program’s peer-to-peer platform in coordination with the Advancement Coordinator, Community Fundraising.
Communication Strategy
- In partnership with the Senior Director, develop and execute a communication strategy for the community fundraising event program donors and, as appropriate, WashU Medicine and Siteman leadership and major gift donors including craft case statements, solicitation letters, and other donor and prospect communications on behalf of faculty, advancement staff, and/or WashU Medicine leadership.

Salary Range
$58,400.00 - $99,700.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
