Role Overview:
Fully competent, experienced dietitian who can cover all patient care units including critical care (ICU and PICU).
Provides comprehensive nutrition care to patients of all ages. Assesses nutrition needs, develops, implements/reevaluates care plans for patients of all ages. Educates patients and family members. Communicates patient issues to the health care team. Modifies diet orders and makes recommendations for enteral feeding modifications and nutrition supplements.
Key Qualifications:
- Provides comprehensive nutrition care to assigned patients by assessing nutritional needs, developing, implementing, and re-evaluating nutritional care plan
- Provides coverage of all inpatient units
- Refers patients to other services
- Counsels patients and/or caregivers about special nutrition needs and procedures, prior to discharge, and coordinates the provision of outpatient nutrition services as needed.
- Develops and revises patient nutrition education materials as needed.
- Trains staff as assigned.
Key Qualifications & Core Skills:
- Bachelors’ degree with major in Food & Nutrition or related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2-years experience.
- At least one year in oncology or nutrition support preferred
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist, New York State
