A Little More About What You Will be Doing:
The Medical Assistant, Lead functions as a clinical team lead for the Medical Assistants in the office. This position supports the physician and clinical staff in the delivery of health care by performing a variety of medically related tasks with the ability, skill and knowledge to work in more than one specialty area. This position is responsible for the orientation and clinical training of Medical Assistants based on the approved standard work. This position also assists with providing a review of Medical Assistant clinical and administrative skills, assessing the workflow of Medical Assistants and supervising staff/scheduling coverage.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Leads huddles to supervise, assess and evaluate department workflow.
- Provides orientation and training for Medical Assistants and administrative staff.
- Assists the Supervisor with the preparation, documentation and make recommendations related to corrective actions.
- Provides assistance in supervising policies and other department specific data for safeguarding organization resources.
- Evaluates the administrative and clinical skills (based on scope of practice) of staff.
- Manages patient care flow and assists with supervising CS-Link message pools.
- Assists with the administrative and clinical (based on scope of practice) support activities including facilities management, patient billing, utilization management, quality management, risk management, human resources, and payroll.
- Prepares patients for provider by reviewing current medications and record in medical record.
- Takes appropriate vital signs and documents in the medical record.
- Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs.
- Sweeps clinical areas to supervise inventory, evaluate equipment, clean/re-process equipment and supplies.
- Assists provider during examination/procedure based on scope of practice, as advised by provider.
- Provides assistance in Quality Assurance measures for suites, including recording Quality Control testing on designated equipment.
- Provides assistance and advises patient inquiries or complaints to appropriate medical staff members, administrative staff, insurance plans, and other departments to ensure satisfactory resolution.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant educational program and/or Medical Assistant Certification from Board approved Medical Assistant Organization
Work Experience:
- 5 years Experience working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinical/medical office setting (Minimum)
- 6 years Experience working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinical/medical office setting (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
- Medical Assistant certification and/or diploma required
