What you will be doing in this role:The Senior Prospect Research Analyst is responsible for performing advanced research to support the department in identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and prospective donors whose philanthropic resources and interests align with Cedars-Sinai philanthropic opportunities. Under the direction from leadership, the Senior Prospect Research Analyst is responsible for implementing prospect research activities for assigned units/portfolio, in direct collaboration with frontline fundraisers and support staff. Manages research requests focused on specific prospects, produces profiles and other similar work products, and collaborates with leadership to implement prospect identification projects. Duties include:
Proactively identify, research, analyze, and qualify existing and new donors and prospects for gift cultivation.
Analyzes and synthesizes accumulated information to assess initial financial assets, philanthropic tendencies/interests, giving propensity/capacity and linkages to Cedars-Sinai.
Interprets and analyzes detailed biographical and financial/wealth indicator information on individuals, corporations and foundations. Analyze and interpret complex financial disclosure documents for the purposes of wealth assessment, such as IRS information, SEC filings, real property files, financial and legal disclosures, and other items.
Compiles in-depth, comprehensive research profiles on individuals, companies and foundations for gift cultivation, based on fundraising strategies and objectives.
Builds collaborative relationships with gift officers and ensures that all work products are consistently produced, of the highest quality, and meets the frontline fundraising staff's needs for strategic planning.
Recommends qualified prospects to frontline fundraising staff. Performs periodic reviews of gift officer portfolios and identify prospects ready for movement; reviews and recommends strategies and next steps as appropriate; ensures gift officer portfolios are optimized and that prospects remain relevant.
Provides ad hoc research on specific biographical or financial information relating to individuals, companies and foundations, as requested or as part of ongoing projects.
Stays abreast of new practices in prospect research, analytics, data mining, and higher education philanthropy.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in economics, accounting, finance, library science or another relevant major is required.
- A minimum of three years' experience in an academic medical center, nonprofit organization, university or similar institution preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience prospect research in a major gifts environment, fundraising and database management, financial or business analysis, library sciences or other related experience required.
- Experience using CRMs to track data from potential philanthropic candidates a plus.
