A Little More About What You Will be Doing:
The MRI Technologist I, under direct supervision, provides the essential service of generating Magnetic Resonance Images of the body for diagnostic purposes with diagnostic imaging equipment, as directed by Radiologists, in accordance with the company policies and procedure manuals
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision, performs MRI exams with a high level of technical skill, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Assists in coordinating all work done in the area surrounding MRI scanner. Screens all persons entering the MRI Zone 3 & 4 area appropriately and obtains signatures on appropriate documents.
- Safely transport patients into and out of MRI scan rooms, monitoring their condition throughout.
- Prepares and supports patients throughout procedures, ensuring privacy, comfort, and understanding.
- Reviews MRI consent form; Ensure strict adherence to MRI safety protocols (Zones III & IV), including screening for contraindications and ferrous objects.
- Assures absence of medical conditions or implant and devices that may make the MRI test contraindicated.
- Maintains and sanitizes room, equipment and coils daily, maintaining safe workplace free of clutter adhering to infection prevention standards.
- Under direct supervision, operates the MRI equipment using proper MRI protocols.
- Responds appropriately during emergency procedures (e.g., magnet quench, cryogen concerns).
- Monitors cryogen levels and observe area safety conditions, reports to Imaging Leadership when they are low
- Follows all MRI and Imaging policies & procedures.
- Exhibits working knowledge and relationships with other departments as it relates to MRI services.
- Demonstrates ability to retrieve studies from PACS for review and assists with quality assurance.
Education:
- Assoc. Degree/College Diploma required. Completion of course in Radiologic technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT)
Experience:
- 2 years of experience as a MRI Tech preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Imaging Registered Rad Tech required through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist - MR (ARRTMR), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) - Certified MRI Technologist required
- Imaging CA Radiologic Tech certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in the State of California preferred upon hire
- Imaging Registered Rad Tech current certification ARRT (R) with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists preferred upon hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
