Position Summary
The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Case Worker I who will facilitate access to and utilization of mental health services for youth and their families in both a telehealth and an outpatient setting within the Washington Early Recognition Center (WERC). Decisions made in this position will be crucial to ensuring effective implementation of youth and their family’s treatment connection and needs. The position will make decisions in close collaboration with the patient/client and other key stakeholders.
Training in trauma-informed care and brief psychosocial assessments, experience working with youth and families (particularly those experiencing trauma or mental health symptoms) and proficiency in trauma-informed, evidence-based practice interventions are essential to this position.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
In either a clinical or a field setting, interviews clients with problems such as personal and family adjustments, finances, employment, food, clothing, housing and physical and mental impairments to determine nature and degree of need.
Gathers information such as medical, psychological and social factors contributing to client's situation; evaluates these together with client's strengths.
Provides limited advice to clients individually, in families or in other small groups, regarding how to meet personal needs and aids clients to improve social functioning and life skills.
Facilitates access to and utilization of mental health services for youth and their families in both a telehealth and an outpatient setting.
Participates in helping clients to modify attitudes and patterns of behavior, by providing training and educational programs that help clients understand the nature and source of personal problems.
Conducts trauma-informed care and brief psychosocial assessments with youth and families.
Refers clients to community resources and other organizations as indicated.
Compiles records, prepares reports and develops and/or reviews service plan. Follows up to determine quantity and quality of service provided to the client and status of client's case.
Accesses and records client and community resource information, either on paper or via electronic means, to input and retrieve information.

Required Qualifications:
- Equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, such as social work, counseling, sociology, or psychology. Applicants with bachelor’s degrees in other fields may be considered with sufficient case management experience.
- Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date
- Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Salary Range
$20.57 - $30.84 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
