The Lung Transplant Financial Analyst provides essential financial support to the Comprehensive Transplant Center, ensuring timely and accurate management of transplant-related financial processes. Responsibilities include monitoring, tracking, and reporting organ acquisition services in compliance with organizational and regulatory guidelines. The analyst verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorizations for all transplant-related services, including evaluations, procedures, diagnostics, and consultations. This role facilitates inpatient admissions, hospital-to-hospital transfers, and direct admits from clinics. It requires close coordination with clinical teams and external payers. The analyst stays current with regulations and legislation related to third-party reimbursement for transplant services and provides financial counseling to patients and their families. All insurance and financial information must be accurately documented and maintained in CS-Link. Additionally, this position serves as a key resource for external partners, offering guidance on transplant-related services and billing processes. The analyst may be on-call after hours and on weekends to support urgent transplant team needs. The role also assists with special financial data projects as requested by the Finance Supervisor and Associate Director to support program performance metrics. This role is hybrid.
What you will be doing:
- Monitor and report organ acquisition charges in compliance with financial policies.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations for transplant-related services.
- Support billing and reimbursement processes for transplant patients.
- Facilitate patient admissions, hospital transfers, and direct admissions from clinics.
- Provide financial counseling to patients and families regarding transplant-related costs.
- Maintain accurate and current insurance and financial documentation.
- Serve as a liaison to external agencies regarding billing instructions and transplant financial procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotation to support transplant team needs outside regular business hours.
- Collaborate with finance leadership on special projects and data reporting as needed.
- Performs analysis and interpretation of financial data, and collaborate with Finance and Departmental team to understand key drivers of revenue, expenses and profitability.
- Handles a full range of project components in an independent and autonomous manner, independently trouble-shoots problems and recommends or implements corrective action
Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED required. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration or another related field preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of financial analysis or financial auditing experience required, preferably in healthcare.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in transplant insurance eligibility, verification, transplant billing, or collection strongly preferred.
- Transplant financial analysis, knowledge of transplant case rates, transplant billing and reimbursement experience highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Managed Care, Medicare, Medi-Cal, and Capitated regulatory and authorization procedures highly preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems (e.g., CS-Link/Epic).
