Overview
The Children's Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center (CERC) at Montefiore Medical Center , is seeking a part-time, NYS Licensed Psychologist to perform evaluations for children and adults who are seeking to qualify for services from OPWDD. In addition, the psychologist will have a lesser role in providing evaluation and treatment services to children and adults with other developmental and learning disabilities. on an as needed basis. For this latter group, goals established for each patient include increasing academic motivation, decreasing academic anxiety , raising self-esteem , and developing metacognitive skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychological evaluation services to individuals seeking eligibility for OPWDD services. * Oversee referrals, wait-lists, patient correspondence, provider correspondence, supervision of graduate students and their documentation, managing remediation and office materials
- Recruiting, training, and supervising a staff of psychology graduate students who serve as evaluators * Communicate with school training directors on a regular basis, sending informational materials to graduate programs, managing applications, initiating and conducting interviews. * Coordinate with director of trainees to ensure clearances for new graduate students
- Writing evaluations of trainees and signing off on training documents * Review and sign off on treatment plans, treatment reviews, daily progress notes, treatment summaries
- Teaching remedial techniques and supportive counseling approaches to the psychology graduate students. * Techniques and strategies taught during orientation then reviewed and further developed through weekly supervision
- Planning individualized support for all patients receiving services. * Create individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results and recommendations
- Overseeing referrals for psychotherapy. * Through supervision and direct service, patients are identified for additional and/or specialized support or services
- Conduct 7.0 psychological evaluations per week (0.5FTE) * Conduct psychological evaluations including scoring and report writing
- Working directly with parents. * Conduct intakes, feedbacks and follow up appointment with parents
- Participating in a weekly multidisciplinary Adolescent Unit team meeting and consulting with other treatment professionals including psychologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, speech and language pathologists, and social workers. * Provide summary of testing results, discuss recommendations, and consult on other clinician’s cases.
- Provide educational presentations to residents * Review and demonstrate psychological, educational, social-emotional and other assessments with medical residents
