Overview
Under general supervision, the Stationary Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers and related power plant equipment. This includes steam engines, air compressors, and auxiliary systems that provide steam, electric power, and other essential services to the facility.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain boilers, steam engines, air compressors, and related power plant equipment.
- Monitor systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, boilers, and engines.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of equipment performance and maintenance activities.
- Respond to emergency situations and perform corrective actions as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical training in boiler operation or HVAC preferred.
- Valid NYC Stationary Engineer License required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in boiler operation and maintenance in a healthcare or industrial setting.
- Completion of a trade apprenticeship program and have five years of experience as a Stationary Engineer.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Must also possess the following certificates: S-12 Citywide Sprinkler Systems, S-13 Citywide Standpipe System, G-71 Supervision of Piped Non-Flammable Medical Gases, G-60 Torch Use of Flammable Gases, F-60 Fire Guard for Torch Operations & Const. Site
