The Senior Investment Operations Associate is responsible for the oversight of the portfolio management system and the accuracy and integrity of investment portfolio data. This position is responsible for managing the quality of the organization's data used for monitoring the performance of the investment portfolio. This position interprets and analyzes data against appropriate benchmark measurements and market indices. This position will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely investment reporting to the Investment Committee and key partners (e.g., investment team, finance department, treasury department). This position will interact closely, at the appropriate level, with the fund managers, fund administrators, advisors, and the investment team. This position will report to the Director of Investment Operations. Primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Lead administrator for the portfolio management system (Addepar) and data management platform (Canoe Intelligence). Serves as liaison between Addepar, Canoe, consultants, and business units to ensure business needs are met.
- Provide process ownership by setting expectations for data integrity and timeliness, model best practices in data handling and documentation, drive accountability by ensuring team members understand the impact of inaccurate or delayed data on performance reporting and compliance. Maintain industry standards for data and reporting management.
- Provide oversight of data input by reviewing and validating data entries for completeness and correctness, monitor workflows, coordinate with internal and external partners to resolve discrepancies or improve data management.
- Apply expertise in investment data calculation methodologies to ensure accurate data reporting and analysis.
- Determine issues related to data quality problems and identify how those issues can be resolved. Work within job scope, and at the appropriate organization level, to interact with other departments and/or outside providers to resolve these issues. Keep supervisor informed and escalate issues as appropriate.
- Assume ownership and accountability for the end-to-end process of delivering monthly and quarterly investment reporting to the Investment Committee and collaborators.
- Provide quarterly and monthly investment performance reports, including individual manager returns and return analyses, with respect to the Investment Portfolio.
- Develop methodology to provide data and attribution analysis to explain performance metrics.
- Recommend design improvements to reporting templates and processes.
- Create, monitor, and enhance risk metrics, dashboards, and reporting frameworks.
- Disaggregate investment holdings to the individual security level. Accurately aggregate exposure to companies, asset classes, sectors, industry, or geographic regions. Manage and optimize look-through reporting in Addepar.
- Work effectively with the investment team and partners to develop reports as requested.
- Monitor compliance with the Investment Policy Statement and Cedars-Sinai policies, procedures, and protocols. Escalate to supervisor if close to policy ranges.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to minimize risks and errors while enhancing efficiency.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, business management, finance, mathematics, economics, statistics, or other quantitative field of study.
- A minimum of 5 years proven experience in investment performance measurement and reporting, preferably with attribution and portfolio analysis, with a proven track record of relevant work.
- Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIMP) preferred.
- Experience with portfolio management systems preferred. Experience with data modeling and visualization tools, and MS Excel Skills (functions, charting, and pivot tables).
