Cedars-Sinai's Preoperative (PreOp) and Post Anesthesia care units (PACU) total over 100 bays within the main medical center and Advanced Health Science Pavilion. Our peri anesthesia nurses are highly skilled critical care professionals who care for patients as they are undergoing or regaining consciousness from anesthesia. They continuously monitor and record patients' vital signs, monitor for side effects and adverse reactions related to anesthesia and are prepared to handle emergency situations if needed to ensure patients' safety.
As a Registered Nurse IV in PreOp PACU you will assume responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care within this specialty patient population.
- Registered Nurse IV is an expert clinician who demonstrates a high level of knowledge and experience in a specialty, as well as general nursing.
- Consistently demonstrates excellence in all areas of nursing practice
- Manages complex, unpredictable patient care situations and are a nursing leader.
- Assumes primary responsibility for the mentoring and coaching employees in one of the three professional advancement pathways (Clinical Quality, Education, Leadership) that most closely aligns with their skills.
- Serves as a mentor on the unit with the goal of growing nurse engagement, professional development of staff, and safe quality care with improved outcomes.
- Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory requirements in patient assignment making delegations of tasks, documentation and supervise care for the delivery team.
- Assumes the responsibility and accountability for the supervision and application of the nursing process throughout the delivery of patient care.
Education Requirements:
BSN or higher from an accredited school of nursing
License/Certification/Registration Requirements:
Current, unrestricted California RN License required
American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS or ACLS and PALS certifications required
Specialty Certification required (ie. CPAN or CCR)
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of acute care RN experience in the PACU
Internal applicants should have maintained satisfactory Clinical Nurse III status for a minimum of one (1) year
