Exciting Opportunity at MSK: We are seeking a patient-focused Genetic Counselor Assistant (GCA) to support our Genetics team and contribute directly to high-quality patient care. This role plays an important part in improving clinic efficiency, supporting genetic counselors, and enhancing the patient experience throughout the care journey.
Role Overview:
The GCA provides clinical and administrative support to genetic counselors by assisting with case preparation, genetic testing coordination, and patient follow-up. This role requires close collaboration with patients, laboratories, providers, and administrative teams to ensure timely, accurate, and compassionate care.
Key responsibilities include:
Reviewing and triaging cases and upcoming clinic schedules
Preparing cases by confirming medical records, family history, and prior genetic testing
Assisting with scheduling patient clinic visits and laboratory appointments, including coordination with patients, providers, and administrative teams
Coordinating genetic testing workflows, including test orders, specimen collection, insurance forms, and lab communication
Supporting post-visit follow-up, including results transmission, referrals, documentation, and patient outreach
Key Qualifications:
Experience working in a clinical or healthcare setting with patient-facing responsibilities
Exposure to clinical operations such as scheduling, care coordination, or documentation
Experience with or interest in clinical genetics or genetic testing is a plus, but not required; training will be provided

Hours: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm
Location: 222 E. 70th Street, Manhattan. Potential for some hybrid work after training, based on departmental needs
