Consultant SDS Summary:
- The Consultant, Strategic Decision Support (SDS) operates at the intersection of data analysis, business intelligence, and strategic consulting. As part of the Data and Analytics (DnA) Center of Excellence, SDS provides actionable insights that drive decision-making within Penn Medicine and clarify complex business issues to recommend solutions. SDS is a dynamic team, that blends technical, clinical, and analytical skills to improve outcomes, optimize processes, and drive business growth. The Consultants in SDS learn and develop skills in hypothesis-based consulting, analytics, and storyboarding. SDS seeks candidates with interest to explore new ideas and the humility to collaborate often in that effort. The Consultant will support Penn Medicine stakeholders on issues of broad importance to ensure timely, relevant analyses that align with business objectives. As such, they must be able to structure, execute, and communicate analytical findings to diverse audiences.
Responsibilities:
- Consultation: Perceived as credible and integral to work by mid-level client stakeholders. Influences client thinking and motivates them to take action as appropriate. Demonstrates understanding of client issues and sensitivities. Anticipates questions and effectively addresses when preparing for meetings.
- Insight Generation Designs individual analyses based on thorough understanding of client problem and hypotheses. Able to construct models that integrate multiple data sources and assumptions. Broadens client’s understanding of issues and potential solutions.
- Problem Solving: Draws insights from analytic outputs. Refines analysis based on point of view. Contributes to team’s understanding of overall problem and potential solutions. Contributes to the development of hypotheses for own pieces of work.

Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor of Arts or Science in Business, Statistics, or a related field, is required.
- 2+ years' experience conducting analyses on large complex data sets is required.
- Proven track record of managing and executing projects with minimal oversight is required
Senior Consultant Summary:
- The University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS) is seeking an experienced Senior Consultant, People Analytics, to join our dynamic Data and Analytics team, PennDnA. In this role, you will collaborate with people leaders from across departments to develop bold new data-driven strategies for addressing workforce issues. As a Data Analytics practitioner you will help to develop PennDnA’s People Analytics strategy and capabilities to achieve critical organizational goals related to identifying, recruiting, retaining, and developing top talent
- The Senior Consultant will analyze and interpret workforce data to address critical questions within our complex health care organization. You will collaborate with leaders from across departments to understand their business objectives, refine data requests, provide actionable insights, and develop data-driven strategies.

Responsibilities:

Tailors approach to client interactions based on understanding of organizational issues and individual client sensitivities. Provides insights to the team on opportunities to positively influence client buy-in.
- Insight Generation Provides insight into the diagnosis of the clients overall problem by leading the development and testing of hypotheses. Demonstrates understanding of the problem-solving approach. Defines the client issues and generates potential solutions.
- Problem Solving: Develops analytical approach for entire workstream. Creates flexible, user friendly analytic models. Is innovative in using analytic findings and data to advance the client's thinking and highlighting challenges and solutions.
- Results: Owns end to end workstream recognizing iterative nature of work and client engagement goals. Anticipates and resolves issues, helping team meet deadlines and maintain project schedule.
- Teamwork: Proactively helps create and support an energizing team environment. Actively seeks a diverse set of perspectives to enhance project outcomes. Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise: Familiarity with Operations data preferred. Strong business acumen and the ability to translate data insights into actionable business recommendations. Able to develop strong understanding of stakeholder needs. Applies knowledge to solve problems and contribute ideas to team strategy.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and data visualization tools.
- Communication &Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate complex concepts to a diversity of stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with systems such as Epic (Inpatient) with relevant certifications (preferred).
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
