Description
The schedule for this position is below and hours may vary based on business needs the day concludes when the last participant has finished their session:
Mondays (Geneva): 10am-3pm (5 hours)
Tuesdays (Warrenville): 10am-3pm (5 hours)
Wednesdays (Geneva): 10am - 3pm (5 hours)
Thursdays (Warrenville): 10am-3pm (5 hours)
Provides excellent customer service by promptly responding to member needs and concerns. Develops positive relationships with class participants by teaching a variety of challenging and entertaining group fitness classes. Educates class participants on correct form and alternate moves during the fitness routine. Attentively listens to members, answers questions, and engages in conversation before and after classes. Provides current music ensuring appropriate language. Cleans and organizes studio after each group fitness class. Prepare class format/content appropriate for the type of class and level of participants. Lead participants in physical stretching, strengthening, gait and posture exercises appropriate for the level of the class. Provides appropriate warm-up and cool down. Monitor proper clothing/shoes of participants. Provide safe class environment. Provide feedback to class participants. Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Demonstrates complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures including calling EMS. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively. Assists in planning, marketing, and implementing programs with the coordinator of sports performance. Proactively monitors/ screens the client health history information and coordinates the process for receipt of medical clearance as applicable. Performs other duties as assigned. AA/EOE.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED. One-year fitness instructor work experience.
- CPR/AED certification required within the first 3 months of hire.
- Group Exercise Certification (minimum of one): National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM), American Council of Exercise (ACE), Recognized Strength and Conditioning/ program specific certification.
Preferred:
- Professional PT/PTA/ATC license.
- National preferred certification: ACSM
- Bachelors degree in a related field (IE Exercise Science or Physiology, Kinesiology)
