ResponsibilitiesThe MCHS Director is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating operational and personnel activities and having strategic oversight for the Mayo Clinic Health System Respiratory Care service line to ensure the provision of quality services to meet the needs of those served by the department. The Director provides leadership based on the Mayo Clinic Health System mission, vision, and values. The role includes ongoing collaboration and communication utilizing shared goal setting and decision making with physicians, associate providers, department staff and multidisciplinary team members. The Director will maintain a professional environment and on-going development of staff. The Director applies current leadership and management theories and participates in the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans including innovative ways of delivering care.
QualificationsGraduate of an accredited respiratory program. Baccalaureate degree in a business or health-related field. Minimum of 5 years hospital-related experience as a respiratory therapist. Minimum of 5 years of healthcare management, Holds a Respiratory Care Practitioner Licensure in the states in which they will provide patient care.
Knowledge of and experience with continuous quality improvement and change management processes. Experience in a multidisciplinary, collaborative setting. MS in in a related field or MBA preferred. Demonstrates high standards of personal integrity and ethics. Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relations with a variety of people. Understands, demonstrates energy and passion for, and communicates a vision of the future and establishes long-term performance goals and standards. Demonstrates the ability to focus time and energies on the priority areas and execute as need be. Able to recruit, select, and promote the best leaders for the patient care areas. Demonstrates the ability to challenge and empower employees. Able to work with employees to improve performance through the provision of constructive feedback. Demonstrates effective conflict resolution skills. Demonstrates excellence in leadership abilities: Approachable, Effective communicator, Creative problem solver, Optimistic outlook, Objective and diplomatic, Self directed and motivated, Accountable. Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with physicians. Able to manage and cope effectively with stress related to the administrative role. Able to maintain a good sense of humor. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent problem-solving skills Working knowledge of departmental and operational functions.

Schedule DetailsWill travel between the Mayo Clinic Health System Minnesota sites. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday.
