The people of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) are united by a singular mission: ending cancer for life. Role Overview:
We are looking for musician volunteers to play in the lobby of our Kimmel Outpatient Center (353 E 68th St, New York, NY 10065).
Key Qualifications:
Before submitting an application to volunteer at MSK, please watch our Pre-Orientation video here for essential program information. Musician volunteers will be expected to volunteer once a week for 2 hours each shift. Your shift will repeat each week.
Kimmel is looking for musicians Tuesdays or Thursdays anytime between 1:00-5:00 PM.
Musicians will play in the main lobby of the center, enhancing the patient experience as visitors enter and exit the building.
Please be prepared to play a sample of pieces during your interview. Musicians must bring their own instruments to their volunteer shifts.

Please note that the Volunteer Department does not oversee internships, educational programs, or shadowing opportunities. Our program offers long-term opportunities supporting patients and staff, based on institutional needs.
Qualifications
- Must be 16 years old.
- Willing to commit to a weekly 3-hour shift for a minimum of 6 consecutive months. Shifts will remain the same each week.
- If a former or current MSK patient, must be out of treatment for at least one year.
- Reliable, excellent interpersonal skills, compassionate, and proactive.
Onboarding Requirements: takes 4 - 6 weeks on average
Core Skills:
Comfortable performing in lobby spaces with patients, visitors, and staff passing by.
Reliable.
Able to engage with patients.
Musicians must bring their own instruments to their volunteer shifts.
