Overview
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Research Information Technology (IT) will guide the technology resources supporting health research informatics efforts at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Einstein). The AVP reports to the Vice President of Data and Analytics at Montefiore and will have matrixed reporting to the Chief Research Informatics Officer (CRIO) at Einstein. The AVP role is critical to ensure that the vision and goals for research and innovation envisioned by the CRIO are supported by efficient technology platforms and tools. This role will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all information technology systems and services that support the research mission of Montefiore-Einstein.
Responsibilities
- Defining and executing on a research IT roadmap that prioritizes research technology initiatives, infrastructure enhancements, and efficient resource allocations and aligns with Montefiore-Einstein’s overall research mission and goals.
- Collaborating with clinical and research stakeholders to understand and address their informatics needs with effective IT solutions.
- Overseeing research IT projects through planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope.
- Participating in governance structures established within Montefiore-Einstein and providing details on project status, milestones, resource allocation, risks, etc.
- Managing, guiding and mentoring the technology team members that support research IT platforms and tools.
- Partnering with relevant teams and departments to ensure an optimal infrastructure for research IT, including hardware, software, networks, and data centers, ensuring their reliability, security, and scalability.
- Partnering with IT leadership for critical initiatives, specifically: AVP of Data and Analytics who manages the AI/ML platform and research data needs, CISO for data security and compliance, and AVP for Applications (especially Epic).
- Managing platforms and tools used by the research IT community (e.g., Epic COSMOS, REDcap, Velos, ATLAS, de-identified research datasets, ensuring data quality, overseeing successful data migrations, etc.).
- Managing the research IT budget ensuring cost-effective solutions and optimizing technology investments.
Requirements
- MS Required.
- 10+ years of working in research IT within a healthcare environment – preferably at an academic medical center.
- Demonstrated IT leadership experience, preferably in healthcare or an academic medical center, with experience managing research IT platforms and initiatives.
- Experience in grant writing and managing research compliance is preferred.
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
