ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Communications Specialist will support an integrated communications strategy that reinforces Mayo Clinic’s Mayo Clinic’s position as the leader in healthcare transformation. As a member of the Comms Studio—an agile operating model designed to flex and respond to evolving business needs—this professional must be comfortable pivoting to support a range of strategic initiatives across the organization. This professional will promote enterprise priorities and strengthen Mayo Clinic’s reputation among a variety of healthcare and consumer audiences. The role requires managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, strategic thinker and skilled writer with proven experience delivering effective healthcare communications, preferably in an academic medical center setting. This role requires a seasoned communications professional with experience translating complex healthcare information for diverse audiences.
Responsibilities:
• Support communications for priority areas, providing timely internal and external communications for a wide range of initiatives.
• Proactively create and publish content across a variety of channels and content may include patient stories, scientific research findings and consumer health news.
• Produce clear, well-written, grammatically correct and factually accurate content.
• Take highly complex topics and quickly translate them into clear, plain-language messages tailored for multiple audiences.
• Monitor U.S. health news and rapidly identify opportunities to offer media interviews with Mayo Clinic experts or develop timely content for media distribution.

During the OnDemand interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question — Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. QualificationsRequires a bachelor's degree in a related field plus 3 years of relevant work experience. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate in a way that creates clarity, simplifies messages, and aligns with organizational strategy. Knowledge of channels for communication and the ability to build effective communication and engagement strategies.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to independently identify opportunities, solutions and resolve challenges. Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful results. Requires an attitude that actively seeks out change, embraces critical questioning, innovation, service and continuous improvement. Must understand how to deal with and navigate ambiguity, and act without having the total picture. Adaptable or flexible. Demonstrated professionalism and ethics, with ability to earn credibility through integrity and transparency. Role models service excellence. Previous experience in healthcare communications, such as health system, hospital, clinical practice, or medical research communications preferred.
