Rutgers Cancer Institute seeks applications and nominations for the position of Associate Director for Clinical Research. This is a full-time position within Rutgers Cancer Institute, the State of New Jersey’s only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center. The Associate Director for Clinical Research is responsible for overseeing clinical research activities across all Cancer Institute programs. The individual will work closely with the Assistant Director for Clinical Research, Executive Director for Clinical Research Organization and Co-Medical Directors of the Office of Human Research Studies to manage clinical research–related shared resources and oversee operations of the Office of Human Research Studies.
The Associate Director will oversee the development, integration, and coordination of clinical scientists into cohesive and collaborative research groups. They will mentor clinical research faculty and ensure that shared resources and review committees effectively support high-quality clinical science. Additional responsibilities include promoting inter- and intra-programmatic collaborations; recruiting new clinical science members to the Cancer Institute; and participating in planning the Annual Scientific Retreat. The Associate Director will review all clinical research protocol budgets and help basic and population scientists connect their research proposals to the clinical science infrastructure. A core responsibility of this role is ensuring the quality, rigor, and scientific integrity of all clinical research. They will also be responsible for the development of a comprehensive clinical research strategy for the service line, promoting clinical research across all hospital sites, and leading efforts to optimize trial portfolio and patient enrollments. The Associate Director for Clinical Research is expected to serve on the Rutgers Cancer Institute Executive Leadership Team, Research Leadership Council, and participate in the Internal and External Advisory Board meetings.
