The listed minimum pay reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Position Overview
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plans, implements and evaluates the educational content of the Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Program (DSMES) at all sites.
- Assists in the maintenance of DSMES team member qualifications (CE credits, training, competency, licensure, and registrations).
- Provides educational opportunities at times and places as needed. Participates in developing, updating, and maintaining educational material. Enhances diabetes education by involving patients and families and other caretakers as appropriate in the teaching and learning process.
- Participates in activities that promote and expand the reputation and services of the diabetes program.
- Uses an integrative and collaborative multidisciplinary approach to diabetes care and education, that results in enhanced patient outcomes. Demonstrates effective teaching skills and uses a variety of instructional methods and teaching strategies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Registered Nurse, Registered Dietician Nutritionist, Licensed Pharmacist, Board Certified Advanced Diabetes Management Professional (BC-ADM) or a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES)
Experience: One year of Educational Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Other Credentials: AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider
Knowledge and Skills: Excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong working knowledge base of endocrine/diabetic care. Must complete 15 contact hours of diabetes education annually.
Special Training: Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Power Point.
