Overview
The Magnet Program Director is responsible for leading and managing the hospital's journey to achieve ANCC's Pathway to Excellence designation. This role ensures alignment with the ANCC's framework, supports a culture of nursing excellence, and oversees all aspects of the hospital's nursing excellence-related initiatives. The Magnet Program Director collaborates with nursing leadership, frontline staff, and interdisciplinary teams to enhance professional nursing practice, patient outcomes, and staff engagement.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the hospital's Pathway to Excellence designation and redesignation process.
- Develop and implement strategies to align nursing practice with Nursing Excellence standards.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of documentation, ensuring compliance with the ANCC Pathway to Excellence Model(R).
- Facilitate nursing excellence initiatives, including Professional governance, evidence-based practice, and professional development.
- Serve as a resource for nursing leadership, staff, and interdisciplinary teams on Nursing Excellence standards and requirements.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to drive quality and performance improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate and support site visits by the ANCC Appraisers.
- Monitor and evaluate key performance metrics related to nursing excellence.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and nursing excellence throughout the organization.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or a related healthcare field required.
- Current RN license in NYS. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing leadership experience.
- Magnet/Pathway to Excellence designation experience required.
- Strong knowledge of the ANCC Model(R) and its application in acute care settings.
