The Department of Thoracic Surgery is seeking a full-time interventional pulmonologist at the Assistant/Associate level, interested in practicing interventional pulmonary, general pulmonary and lung cancer screening. This candidate would join the group’s current interventional Pulmonologist, Dr. Nathaniel Ivanick.
As a member of the thoracic surgery department at a busy comprehensive cancer center, candidates will be expected to perform the full breadth of interventional pulmonary procedures, including rigid bronchoscopy, tumor ablation, airway stenting and pleuroscopy. Roswell now has access to the Aliya catheter, facilitating tumor ablation within the airway or the periphery. Robotic assisted bronchoscopy is performed using the Galaxy platform. In addition to the above procedures, diagnosis and management of benign conditions such as advanced emphysema (bronchoscopic lung volume reduction) and interstitial lung disease (lung cryobiopsy) is also performed.
General responsibilities for the candidate include managing outpatient clinics, two dedicated procedural days in our state-of-the-art endoscopy suite, inpatient consults, and critical care time if desired.
Additional opportunities include clinical and translational research, participation, and leadership in clinical trials, as well as teaching and supervision of pulmonary fellows from the University at Buffalo. Applicants are required to be board certified or eligible in both pulmonary disease and critical care medicine and be eligible for a NY State Medical License. A final requirement is to be eligible for or have been awarded the status of diplomat of association of bronchology and interventional pulmonary. The search committee will consider clinical expertise and leadership qualities in addition to translational research interests, publication record, and commitment to clinical care and teaching. Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications and years of experience. Faculty will also be recommended for a joint appointment at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine.
